Hello! Welcome! My name is Elizabeth Perry. I have recently obtained my teaching certification in Early Childhood / Elementary Education at East Stroudsburg University. My non-traditional route has given me the passion and perseverance to fulfill my dreams! Life experience, tenacity and a strong work ethic is what makes me stand out in a sea of new students. My personal motto learned from one of the best teachers I know is, "Grit, Grit, Do not Quit." This is my teaching and personal motto!
My Teaching Philosophy
My practices stem from the idea that every student, regardless of their identity, abilities, or culture, should feel safe and be treated with respect in my classroom. This notion is not only focused on catering to the needs of my students but also on making the environment a place that allows children to thrive without fear of judgment or harm. I feel that utilizing practices like celebrating differences on an everyday basis is the only way to ensure this type of environment. By recognizing that every student enters the classroom with a variety of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, no student feels like an outcast or that they do not deserve to be there.
I understand that I am making a commitment to provide all students with the means to thrive. I plan on doing this in a way that not only makes the students feel heard, but their family and community as well. I think if we can work as a collaborative unit, I can do my best and provide each child with support while making it clear that they all have the ability to achieve their goals. I want to make learning fun and encourage a love of lifelong learning. I do not only want to teach the necessities like reading and math but also teach students life lessons that they can carry with them forever. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment that aids the next generation, just like the teachers before me have done.
